Kirk Douglas stars as the Impressionist painter Vincent Van Gogh in Vincente Minnelli’s biopic. This film was seminal in cementing popular opinion of Vincent van Gogh, and famously influenced Francis Bacon

‘A toi, Van Gogh!’ Van Gogh and British artists, with Carol Jacobi

 

Wednesday 24 November, 6.30 – 8pm

Carol Jacobi (Curator of British Art 1850-1915, at Tate Britain) will be speaking on the changing influence of Van Gogh on 20th Century British artists, from Vanessa Bell to Francis Bacon.

Wreath making workshop

 

Friday 3 December, 6.30 – 8.30pm

Join floral artist Kasia Borowiecka for an evening of wreath-making at the Van Gogh House. There will be drinks and music whilst Kasia gives a demonstration and sets you off with materials she’s sourced – an atmospheric, festive way to start your weekend!

Join author and art historian Willem-Jan Verlinden on a discussion of Vincent van Gogh’s formative time in London, including a visit to the neighbouring Type Archive. Supported by the Dutch Foundation for Literature.

Tour to celebrate Black History

Our volunteers Diana Bromwich and Sonia Winifred have devised a tour that looks at Van Gogh and Van Gogh House through the lens of Black History in Lambeth, London and the U.K.

We are very happy to announce that we will be running tours especially for children and families over half term. The tour will take about 30 minutes and there will be creative activities on site for those who want to stay longer.
