5th - 30th June 2019
Open Sundays 2-5pm
Unreliable Biographers is a solo exhibition featuring a body of work by artist and filmmaker Saskia Olde Wolbers, made in relation to 87 Hackford Road prior to its renovation.
Olde Wolbers was the first artist to create work at 87 Hackford Road under its current owners in 2014 . Her extensive research into the house’s history culminated in a sound installation, produced in collaboration with Artangel, that led visitors through the building in its previous state of disrepair.
Unreliable Biographers is centred around ‘Yes, these Eyes are the Windows’ (2015, 20 min HD), the film Olde Wolbers created in response to her installation of the same name. The exhibition will also include the model film sets and intricate metal sculptures Olde Wolbers designed to make her enigmatic film.
Weaving together facts, half-truths, beliefs, and conceits, Olde Wolbers uses Van Gogh as a lens to present alternative narratives and existences embedded within 87 Hackford Road over its 200 year lifespan.
On June 18th, Saskia will be in conversation with Livia Wang, who has overseen the conservation and renovation of no.87. Visitors will have a chance to view the exhibition and film.
