Van Gogh House London

Olivia Plender lived in Van Gogh House for the month of July, 2024.

Olivia Plender, who previously exhibited in our 2023 autumn exhibition, ‘The Living House’, is an artist based in Stockholm and London. Her work is often based on social history, and frequently explores the relationships between gender, power and authority.

During her residency, Olivia participated in open circle evenings at the Stockwell Spiritualist Church and Healing Centre – the spiritualist church nearest to Van Gogh House – as well as at a spiritualist church in Battersea. These experiences contributed to her ongoing exploration of the spiritualist community in the United Kingdom, which forms a significant part of her broader artistic and research practice.
