Minerva Residency
Residency Awarded to
Ayesha Singh & Jyothidas K.V.
July 2022
As part of their residency at the Van Gogh House, Ayesha and Jyothidas will be conducting a series of interventions titled ‘Ingredients of Encounters: Recipes of Reciprocations’.
The residency will serve as an opportunity for the artists to share space, conduct their collaborative processes and investigate the basics of sustenance at a time of their assisted displacement. They will be using Francis Buchanan Hamilton’s 19th century surveys of the Indian subcontinent, as a point of departure for the project.
This residency is supported by Minerva Executive Search and is an opportunity for two artists from India to live and work at the Van Gogh House in July 2022. This is in line with Van Gogh House’s mission, to support artists to make a living within their lifetimes. Artists are encouraged to respond to the wide-ranging themes that intersect the house, from Vincent’s time in London, to questions around identity, heritage, materiality and urbanism.
Ayesha and Jyothidas were nominated by Prameya Art Foundation and their application was chosen by a panel made up of Livia Wang, Creative Director of Van Gogh House, Anna Bromwich, Director of Programmes and Ben Tucker, Founder of Minerva.
